Relax and enjoy Kyoto

We will introduce sightseeing spots that offer smooth transportation, relaxing and enjoyable spots and restaurants, with less walking distance and many places to sit and rest.

Taking a cab is an easy and convenient way to get around, but there are also “sightseeing cabs” where the driver can also provide sightseeing information. A one-day pass for a city bus is also convenient and allows you to enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto while reducing the burden on your body since you can travel sitting down.

Arashiyama Area

TogetsukyoBridge

Take a leisurely stroll around the Arashiyama area, with a focus on Togetsukyo Bridge. We recommend sitting on a bench along the river or in Arashiyama Park and admiring the magnificent views of the mountains and river. It is especially beautiful during the cherry blossom season in spring and the autumn foliage season in fall, making it a great place for taking pictures.

TenryujiGarden

The vast garden at Tenryuji Temple is beautifully landscaped with seasonal flowers and trees. There are benches in the garden and spots where visitors can take a break while looking out over the pond. Visitors can enjoy the garden scenery and historical buildings in a relaxed atmosphere.

ScenicRailway

A short trip from Arashiyama and a ride on a trolley train along the Hozu River will allow you to relax and enjoy the scenery of the mountains. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery during the ride, or take a sightseeing bus or cab for convenient access.

In the Arashiyama area, there are many places to eat where you can enjoy kawadoko (riverbeds) and yudofu (tofu). We recommend visiting places such as “Arashiyama Yoshimura” and “Saga Tofu Ina” for a relaxing taste of Kyoto. Dining with a view of the garden is a luxurious experience.

Higashiyama Area

OkazakiPark

Heian Jingu Shrine in the Okazaki area has a magnificent Otorii (Grand Gate), and there are many benches in the spacious precincts where you can take a break while enjoying the scenery. The cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn leaves in fall are beautiful, and visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll.

Aqueduct

Suijikaku is located on the grounds of Nanzenji Temple and features an atmospheric brick structure. A gentle slope provides easy access and a calm, quiet space to enjoy the seasonal scenery.

Phil'sPath

The “Philosopher's Path” leading from Ginkakuji Temple to Nanzenji Temple is a riverside walkway that offers magnificent autumn foliage and cherry blossoms in spring. There are benches and tea stores along the path, so you can take a rest while walking leisurely.

Gion & Yasaka Shrine

Yasaka Shrine is conveniently located for easy access and sightseeing. You can visit the Maiden and the main shrine, and if you get tired, you can take a break at one of the nearby teahouses and enjoy the streets of Gion.

Teahouse

The Gion area has an abundance of sweet shops. Taste matcha green tea and other sweet treats at such stores as Kagizenryobo and Gigan Komori, where you can enjoy Japanese sweets, a perfect way to end your trip.
