Introducing a one-day cherry blossom itinerary curated by SGR Kamogawa, a riverside inn along the Kamogawa in Kyoto.
As spring arrives, Kyoto transforms into a soft sea of pink, with cherry blossoms painting the city in gentle hues. In 2025 as well, a variety of sakura—from early bloomers to late bloomers—will once again welcome visitors with their fleeting beauty.
Today, we at SGR Kamogawa, a riverside inn along the Kamogawa, are excited to share our recommended one-day cherry blossom itinerary to help you make the most of Kyoto in full bloom.
In the gentle morning light, take your time strolling through Kyoto Gyoen National Garden, where elegant weeping cherry trees and classic Somei Yoshino are quietly blooming. With fewer tourists around, you’ll be able to truly take in the scent of the blossoms and the sounds of birdsong all around you.
◆ Late Morning | A Riverside Sakura Walk Along the Kamogawa
Step out from the inn and head south along the Kamogawa River. A long row of cherry trees sways softly in the spring breeze. Find a bench, enjoy a light snack, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of Kyoto in bloom.
◆ Lunch | Seasonal Kyoto Cuisine in Gion
Make your way to the Gion district and enjoy a traditional Kyoto-style lunch at a machiya (townhouse-style) restaurant. Seasonal ingredients and delicate flavors, paired with views of the cherry blossoms, make for an unforgettable springtime meal.
